Galaxy Hotspots are vocal reproduction monitors.  They are specifically designed to give faithful reproduction in the high to mid frequency range (typically 150Hz - 18kHz).  They were developed in 1977 by Galaxy Audio's founders working with touring musicians who recognised the need for a dedicated vocal monitor that did not reproduce unwanted bottom end frequencies.  The main PA does that already for front of house. Most bands use 12 or 15 inch floor wedges for foldback but to get the right sound and volume level they roll off the bottom end and crank up the volume so that they can actually hear the sound coming from the floor. This usually results in feedback


Key benefits of the Hotspot:

• They can be mounted on a mic stand which means that they can be positioned very close to the listener which will help reduce feedback on stage. Near ear monitors!
  
• This also means they don't need to be run flat out so there will be less on-stage volume - again reducing feedback
• The hotspot PA5XD can be used to power an external speaker (no less than an 8ohm load), say 2 HotspotVC or 2 Microspot VC units (both these units are rated at 16 ohms each)
• Whn driving an external load the Powered Hotspot produces about 150w at 4ohms.
